It was great seeing so many of you last week in Portland! For those of you that didn’t make it to the IAVM Venue Connect this year, I’d love to share a bit more about the session that Chris Joffe and I led: “What You Don’t Know About Your Medical Plan Could Hurt You.”
During our session, we highlighted some critical factors that all venue managers need to consider regarding their medical planning. We discussed the complex decision-making process involved in determining which medical personnel to staff and the appropriate numbers of each, and how these puzzle pieces fit together. Just like in sports where each player has a specific role and position, every medical staff member must be strategically placed and prepared to work as a team.
Additionally, we discussed some broad emerging trends that venues should be mindful of:
Population dynamics - Aging populations, greater urban concentrations, and overall population growth are changing the landscape of event management.
Increased demands - First responders and emergency services are under more pressure than ever before.
Frequency and severity of emergencies - Natural disasters and major emergencies are becoming more common and intense.
Discussing event specifics in the context of these broader trends with professionals and partners nationwide is one way we love working towards our mission of making communities safer. If you want to discuss medical staffing or other ways we can support your initiatives, we’re here to chat. We're passionate about helping ensure the safety and wellbeing of your guests and staff.
On the Joffe Event Hub, we are now offering Run Hide Fight Training with Katherine Schweit! This course, ideal for any adult from event operators to parents, offers trauma-informed, practical advice for handling active shooter situations. Led by former FBI agent Katherine Schweit, it covers the FBI-recommended Run Hide Fight protocols. Empower your community to prioritize safety and security!
This month’s blog reflects a conversation between two Joffe team members- Liz Rupert, Safety Consultant, and Jeff Goran, Regional Event Safety Manager- on assessing event medical needs and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of attendees and staff.
We provide medical professionals to THOUSANDS of events across the country
LA Galaxy vs LAFC
We were thrilled to support the 4th of July soccer match at Pasadena, California’s iconic Rose Bowl Stadium. Our team ensured top-notch medical support during this world-class event, featuring the longest-running fireworks display on the West Coast, tributes to Veterans, and exciting pre-match tailgating, making it a memorable experience for all attendees.
Brick Fest Live
Joffe provided medical support at this exciting event in Dayton, Ohio, helping to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for families exploring life-size models, hands-on activities, and interactive attractions. As attendees enjoyed glow-in-the-dark builds, and raced lego derby cars on 35-foot tracks, our team was ready to assist and keep the focus on creativity and fun.
Southern-Fried Gaming Expo
Our team was on-site at the gaming convention in Atlanta, GA, to help create a safe environment. With over 300 arcade games, pinball machines, and a variety of gaming activities, we were ready to assist attendees as they enjoyed tournaments, special guest talks, and more throughout the dynamic three-day event.
We are excited to join forces with Running USA to bring you Industry Safety Day in Atlanta on September 17th. This event offers a unique opportunity for Running USA members and industry professionals to receive free CPR/AED certification (from our friends at Get CPR Done) and crisis management training, ensuring participants are prepared to act swiftly and effectively in emergencies.
Hosted at the Atlanta Track Club’s midtown headquarters, this regional training is free for active members of Running USA and its global affiliates. Industry partners can also participate at a reduced cost, making this essential training accessible to a broader audience.
